MAL COOPER
Mal started snapping speedway action in the mid seventies at Waroona and Bunbury and as his interest grew he found himself working every weekend of the year travelling as far north as Karratha, Port Hedland and Broome, as well as through the weatbelt to Esperance in the south.
Ellenbrook and Bibra Lake were on Mal's list with nearly every Speedway in the South West visited. Mal reckoned it was easier to say which tracks he never went to, Kalgoorlie and Pithara, rather than try to remember them all.
As far as photographers go in WA, one of the most travelled would have to be Mal Cooper.
Mal hung up the camera in the mid 90's but he is still open for photo sales and can be contacted on: 0408 523 028.
Mal Cooper shot this series of 12 photos of Terry Wood crashing on Boxing Day 1988 in the pits corner at Bunbury City Speedway.
The right front strut folded under the car and several "rolls" were achieved, with some help from a yellow Torana.
Terry was in better shape than his Escort but car and driver both attended an Albany meeting the following weekend.
